This policy explains how cookies and similar technologies are used on this website and in our mobile application. Payment services are provided through our partnership with Belmoney S.A.; their own Cookie Policy governs the processing they carry out, and is available on Belmoney’s website.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website or use an app. They let a service remember your actions and preferences over time, and help us understand how the service is used.
Categories of cookies we use
Strictly necessary
Essential for the service to work — session management, keeping you signed in, and fraud prevention. Without these the site cannot function, so they cannot be disabled and do not require your consent.
Analytics
Help us understand how people use the service: which pages are visited, where errors occur, where a journey is abandoned. Only set with your consent.
Functional
Remember your preferences, such as language and display currency, so you do not have to set them again on every visit.
Marketing and targeting
Used to deliver relevant promotional communications. Only set with your explicit consent.
Managing your cookies
You may manage or withdraw your consent to non-essential cookies at any time through:
- the cookie preference centre available on this website;
- your browser settings — note that disabling cookies may affect how the service works.
Automated decisions
Cookies are not used to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Where automated processing does affect you — identity verification, fraud detection and AML risk scoring — this is described in the Terms & Conditions, and you have the right to request human review.
Third parties
Identity verification is carried out by Sumsub, and payment processing by Belmoney S.A. and its acquiring partners. These services may set their own cookies when you use them; their processing is governed by their own policies.
Data transfers and retention
Personal data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area, with adequate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Retention periods are set out in our Privacy Policy — in summary, identity and KYC data, and transaction records, are both kept for 10 years from the end of the business relationship, as required by the Belgian Anti-Money Laundering Act of 18 September 2017 and applicable EU AML Directives.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right not to be subject to purely automated decision-making. These are set out in full in the Terms & Conditions.
To exercise them in relation to payment services data, contact Belmoney at privacy@bel.money. If you are not satisfied with the response, you may lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Autorité de protection des données) at www.dataprotectionauthority.be.
