This policy explains what personal data CashWorld collects, why, and who it is shared with. Payment services are provided through our white-label partnership with Belmoney S.A.; where Belmoney processes your data as part of executing a payment, that processing is also governed by Belmoney’s own Privacy Policy, available on Belmoney’s website.
Who is responsible for your data
Data controller: CASH WORLD MADINA LEGUE SARL, a company registered in Guinea (RCCM GN.TCC.2021.B.02739), with its registered office at Madina Pharmaguinée, Conakry, Republic of Guinea ("CashWorld", "we", "us").
For the payment itself — receiving your funds, executing the transfer and paying out your recipient — Belmoney S.A., a payment institution licensed and supervised by the National Bank of Belgium (registration no. 0540.745.997), acts as an independent data controller for the data strictly necessary to carry out that payment.
What we collect
- Account data: name, email address, phone number, country of residence, password (stored hashed, never in plain text).
- Identity verification (KYC) data: date of birth, nationality, identity document, a selfie or short liveness video, and the outcome of the verification check, collected via our identity verification provider, Sumsub.
- Regulatory declarations: your profession, and whether you are a politically exposed person (PEP), collected at sign-up as required by anti-money-laundering law and by Belmoney as our payment partner.
- Transaction data: sender and recipient details, amounts, currencies, payout method, and transaction status.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser information, and cookies as described in our Cookie Policy.
Why we process your data
- To create and manage your account and provide the money transfer service you request.
- To verify your identity and that of your recipients, and to meet our obligations under anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist-financing law.
- To detect and prevent fraud.
- To communicate with you about your transfers, including status updates and support requests.
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including those imposed on Belmoney as our payment partner.
Legal basis
We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the transfer service), to comply with our legal obligations (identity verification, AML/CTF record-keeping), and, for optional functionality such as analytics cookies, on the basis of your consent.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary to provide the service or where the law requires it:
- Belmoney S.A., to execute payments and comply with its own regulatory obligations as the licensed payment institution.
- Sumsub, to carry out identity verification.
- Competent authorities, where required by law or a valid legal request.
International transfers
Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, this is done under adequate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Identity and KYC data, and transaction records, are both retained for 10 years from the end of our business relationship with you, as required by the Belgian Anti-Money Laundering Act of 18 September 2017 and applicable EU AML Directives. Account data no longer needed for these purposes is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights regarding CashWorld's own processing, contact us at contact@cashworld.app. For data processed by Belmoney as part of executing a payment, contact Belmoney at privacy@bel.money.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority, or, for matters concerning Belmoney, with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Autorité de protection des données) at www.dataprotectionauthority.be.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit and access controls. Card payment details are never stored on our servers; card payments are processed directly by Belmoney's payment gateway under 3-D Secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page, with the version and date updated above.
